KJ Kemp, in partnership with area salons, businesses and individuals, will present United We Style: Bold Goals and Big Visions, an elevated hair show and storytelling event spotlighting our community's true colors of bold goals and big visions! Benefitting United Way of Rutherford and Cannon Counties. This year we will feature some of our favorite hair trends to a background of our favorite 80's songs. VIP Hour begins at 5:30 pm and the doors open at 6:30 pm at Walnut House performance venue in historic downtown Murfreesboro.
United We Style 2020 welcomes back 2018 Jonesborough National Story Slam winner and Grand Slam Champion of the Peabody Award winning Moth storytelling series, Mark Lamb. Other featured storytellers include community leaders Kara Jill Kemp, producer of the quarterly storytelling Bloom Stage and Ringmaster of Tangerine: J Ben Weatherford, City President of First Bank of Murfreesboro: Regina Wilkerson Ward Director of Education and Workforce Development at Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce; Chelsea Webb Fancher, Marketing and Social Worker at Seniors Helpers; and Christy Young Hackinson, co-owner of The Alley on Main. Salons participating in the styling include L Grider Salon, HelloBeautiful, The Social Chair, Tangerine Salon, Gary W Parker and Urban Image.
Money raised at the event will be contributed to United Way of Rutherford and Cannon Counties, a non-profit organization whose mission is to improve lives by advancing opportunities for education, health and financial stability for all. Funds raised for United Way of RCC stay devoted to local causes ranging from disaster relief housing, basic needs, mental health and substance abuse to nutrition and obesity, and kindergarten readiness.
