Local United Way Leads Collaborative GivingTuesday Effort Among Agencies

Murfreesboro, TN —GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past nine years, this idea has grown into a global movement resulting in nonprofits competing against one another to get the attention of potential donors.

“The nonprofit community thrives best when we collaborate; that isn’t limited to just program and service collaboration, but with fundraising, too,” said Meagan Flippin, president and CEO of the United Way of Rutherford and Cannon Counties.

On December 1, the local nonprofit community is doing just that by launching the Rutherford and Cannon Counties’ GivingTuesday. This 24-hour online fundraising effort, powered by the United Way of Rutherford and Cannon Counties, provides local nonprofits the chance to raise funds to support their critical missions. It also delivers an easier way to connect donors to the charitable causes they care about most through a single donation platform.

“This approach allows all interested agencies to join together to promote one day of giving, with a unified message, to one site. Our local United Way is taking the lead with the hopes of participating agencies all benefiting from the giving day,” said Flippin.

Donors may donate to their favorite causes by visiting rccgivingtuesday.org. The minimum donation of $5 can go along way for local charities.

Giving incentives are available to donors who contribute on December 1. Prizes were provided by the Alley on Main, Bella’s Boutique, Chick-fil-A, Demos’, Donut Country, Fleet Feet, Garage Barre + Bike, Nashville Soccer Club, Sam’s Club, Tangerine Salon and Spa, Toot’s and Trendy Pieces.
