Fourth Annual United Way Community Baby Shower Makes an Impact
500 diaper bags provided for mothers and newborns

The United Way of Rutherford and Cannon Counties and the Rutherford County Health Department recently hosted its fourth annual Community Baby Shower, presented by Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital, to benefit mothers and newborns in Rutherford and Cannon counties. More than 20,000 items were collected and assembled into 500 bags at the Community Baby Shower Sort-a-Thon.

The baby bags were provided to new or expectant mothers during the Community Baby Shower. Participants took advantage of educational workshops and resources from 50 community vendors. The Saint Thomas Mobile Health Unit was also
on-site providing free flu shots to the attendees.

Organizations, companies and individuals participated in the Sort-a-Thon and Community Baby Shower on February 10th and 11th at Patterson Park Community Center. Companies participating this year through private donations, in-kind gifts, collection items or volunteers included:
