Congratulations to the 2017-2018 Catalyst Participants.
The United Way's Catalyst Program, sponsored by Redstone Federal Credit Union, is a nine-month program that helps train nonprofit volunteer leaders of tomorrow. The program's ultimate goal is to is to train volunteers to serve in nonprofit leadership roles, such as nonprofit boards, in Rutherford and Cannon Counties.
Applicants are selected by the Catalyst Alumni Council.

Day of Action is an opportunity for volunteers from the community to read to school children from 1st to 3rd grade to help prevent the "summer slide," when children, especially struggling readers, forget some of what they've learned or slip out of practice during the summer months.
The poverty level in a community influences academic achievement, workforce readiness, economic development, crime and safety, government spending, health and healthcare costs and many other issues. Choosing between putting food on the table, purchasing medication or buying school supplies is a daily financial dilemma for many families, one that is avoidable with the right support system in place. You can help individuals struggling to make ends meet. Through United Way, you can volunteer your time and services to programs that support people in your own backyard.

When I came to United Way eight years ago, what attracted me to the organization then could not hold truer today: the fact that United Way has the unique ability to deliver the greatest impact within our local community. Although United Way is an international brand, each local United Way has the independence to reflect the distinct issues and needs of its community, with emphasis on education, health, and financial stability.
