CIRCLE OF EXCELLENCE AWARDS

The United Way Circle of Excellence award winners in the categories of Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum have gone above and beyond in more ways than one. While total pledge dollars are important, the criteria for the United Way Circle of Excellence awards take other important factors into account including community involvement. This involvement includes engaging in a certain number of United Way events per year such as Days of Action, Stuff the Bus, Hometown Huddle, the Community Baby Shower, Employee Campaign Manager Training, or a United Way program tour. Other factors include employee per capita, participation, total dollar increase, a corporate gift, sponsorship, or special event. Those award winners include:

COMMUNITY IMPACT AWARD

Volunteer State Bank played a crucial role in United Way’s volunteer and engagement programs by sponsoring the cost of our new volunteer software- Volunteer Connect. Volunteer State Bank’s investment has increased efficiency and awareness for both nonprofits and volunteers.

 

LEGACY AWARD

Publix is known for their caring culture. Local Publix associates volunteered over 1,000 hours with United Way and local partner programs. Publix continues to be an extension of United Way’s Stuff the Bus program with their Tools for Schools initiatives.

Nissan North America is actively involved with each annual engagement event through sponsorships, volunteers and collection sites. Nissan’s leadership does an incredible job communicating and demonstrating United Way’s impact to their employees by hosting ECM trainings for each shift lead manager per department and hosting an annual breakfast for leadership donors. Their engagement this year has increased due to activities such as the Experience Impact Bus Tour that was coordinated by Nissan Smyrna’s Plant Manager, Heath Holtz. Nissan has also created an environment for employees to be advocates for United Way by allowing them to tell their story of how United Way has impacted them personally. Board member, Tim Slate from Nissan is always willing to help build deeper relationships for United Way.

 

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT award

UPS delivers more than just packages — they deliver goodwill to communities near and far. Making a mark through employee volunteerism is nothing new for UPS. UPS employees participate in Days of Action and often times select the most challenging projects. United Way’s Stuff the Bus would not be possible without UPS volunteering their time, drivers and trucks to transport backpacks to our local school systems.

 

INNOVATION award

Ingram developed a year-round engagement plan that consisted of: quarterly volunteer events, providing opportunities to associates to volunteer on-site for employees that are not available to leave the campus, hosting a leadership breakfast, connecting donors with their interests and passions through events like United Way Boot Camp which highlighted services to veterans and honored veterans within the company. They also coordinated efforts with United Way of Rutherford and Cannon Counties and United Way Metro Nashville to connect employees with the impact and opportunities with both organizations.  They also allow time for employees, such as Debbie England, to be advocates for United Way.
